"Pleasure Island" is the name given to Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Fort Fisher. Carolina Beach, on the northern end, experienced a building boom in the mid 80's. More recently, in the 2000's, new homes are replacing older homes. No condo units are on Kure Beach. Thus the number of people that vacation there are much fewer than at Carolina Beach. Fort Fisher, to the south, will never be developed.
