Riggings Condo, Kure Beach NC has found itself in danger of beach erosion. It is locked in a legal battle with the Coastal Resources Commission of the State of North Carolina. Built in 1985 they immediately had problems with beach erosion. They laid down sand bags in a line of defense. They have been involved in the legal system ever since. Today, as of the summer of 2017, the four building condo complex looks like a construction zone as they try to pile sand on the beach in an effort to protect the structures. Even though water is breaching one of the buildings the HOA is spending money on repairs to the pool. They have recently added new decking and a fence around the pool. They are still renting units and people are still coming but they are definitely in an uphill battle against mother nature and the State of North Carolina.
