Royal Sands I, Carolina Beach NC is an ocean front condo complex built in 1982. It is a 3 story, 6 unit building. All condos are two bed and two bath and are 918 square feet. It has a private beach access as well as outdoor storage for your beach items. Prices range from $175,000 to $225,000. Royal Sands I, Carolina Beach NC is within walking distance(.45 miles) of the pier. The pier has a grill and bar. It is also near Freeman Park, a four wheel drive only beach where people fish and camp. The most recent building boom took place in the mid-80's. Royal Sands I was part of that. In 1887 the first boardwalk was built. To get to Carolina Beach at that time one would have to take a ferry on the Cape Fear River, dock, and then take the railway to the ocean front. The boardwalk was a busy place throughout history. However, when TV and air conditioning came along people stopped going out at night quite as much. Recently, Carolina Beach has made an effort to bring the boardwalk back by building a new one in 2007. New Shops and restaurants came along with it.
