Kure by the Sea, Kure Beach NC is a coastal community consisting of several quiet cul de sac streets. The houses are in coastal colors and tend to be in the 1800 to 5100 sq ft range. Prices run from $330,000.00 to over a million for ocean front. There is a community pool and pool house as well as a private beach access point with parking and a gazebo overlooking the ocean(.16 miles from the center of the neighborhood). Some of the houses are out of the flood zone so you will save on insurance. This neighborhood is located close to Carolina Beach(1.8 miles) so the convenience of shopping and restaurants is right at your door but far enough away from the boardwalk that there is no congestion.It is one mile to the center of Kure Beach and the pier. There are some restaurants there and it does not receive as many visitors as Carolina Beach. It is 2.75 miles to Historic Fort Fisher. There you can visit the Civil War fort that protected the port of Wilmington from Northern aggression. The award winning North Carolina Aquarium is also located in Fort Fisher. It is a great place to take kids. The aquarium has programs for children that teach them about the ocean and surrounding marsh areas. There is also a beach that allows four wheel drive vehicles on it for a daily fee or season pass. Many people visit the beach here to go fishing. There is not much traffic here like you find at the "North End" of Carolina Beach where they allow four wheel drive vehicles as well. It is much more popular for camping and fishing. At the end of Fort Fisher, before the Cape Fear River, you can catch the ferry to historic Southport.
